Another storm approaching.
For 1/26/10: For Today: The next round of pacific moisture is working it’s way into our area early and regional radar is showing an area of more concentrated moisture that should start to offer snow by the middle of the day. This first wave has lost a lot of it’s organization but pockets like the one we’ll see today will offer a swing at some snow as the bigger system sets up for tomorrow. Accumulations will be limited but expect changes throughout the day.
Overnight lows stayed cold under the mostly clear skies with Crested Butte hitting -7 degrees but Gunnison was much colder with the inversion dropping to -12 degrees. Daytime highs will rebound slowly under this light cloud cover but should reach the mid to low 20’s for all elevations. Tonight will be a lot warmer with the heavy cloud cover and snow with all elevations likely holding above 0 but be prepared for colder if it stays clear.
Snow will start falling with this first unorganized wave today and will continue into Friday morning. There are a number of components that will effect how much we see including a stalling front to the east but this promises a few inches a day until skies clear into the weekend. Layer up today and expect changes with the snowfall.
