Snow continuing early with wind.
For 1/24/10: For Today: Snow is continuing to fall thanks to remnants from this last wave and wrap around moisture pushing back into the area from the northeast. Snow will continue through this morning but taper off into the afternoon with a dirty western flow continuing to offer scattered snows along the divide into Monday. Expect high gusting winds offering cold windchill values so be conscious of exposed skin.
Overnight lows have stayed warmer than initially forecast with Crested Butte bottoming out at 12 degrees and Gunnison holding right in check at 11 degrees. Daytime highs will hold in the high teens and low 20’s but the winds will mean significantly colder windchill values. Look for colder overnight lows tonight as skies clear likely dropping to and below 0.
We will enter a gap between systems for Monday but by Tuesday afternoon another system will push in. Models are differing on just how much we’ll see but it’s looking pretty good if the pattern holds. Be aware of the wind today and have plenty of layers available to cover exposed skin.
