9+" on the ground with more on the way.

For 1/22/10: For Today: The warmer and wetter part of this storm pushed through overnight and we are seeing the gap between waves this morning. Snow totals vary across the valley but range from 6-12”. A colder drier airmass will enter the picture through the morning with good dynamics for more snow today. It’s getting slow start but look for high gusting winds to fuel blizzard like conditions as these systems meet.

Overnight lows were very warm under this southern flow with Crested Butte holding at 22 degrees and Gunnison just a couple degrees lower at 19 degrees. Daytime highs won’t move much with this cooler air moving in with highs holding to mid and high 20’s. Tonight’s lows will be colder but still hold in the teens.

We are seeing a mild start to what has the potential to be very volatile day with these two systems meeting. Expect squally snow showers combining with high gusting winds to create whiteout conditions. Thundersnow will again be possible and you’ll want to be prepared for all conditions as you head out. Look for another 4-6” with some areas getting more but it could be hard to quantify if it blows up the way it’s supposed to.
