Snow starting with a week full in the forecast.
For 1/18/10: For Today: The front end of this next volley of pacific moisture has setup in our area and we will see the cloud cover and snow building through the afternoon. Our best chance at snow with this first round will come from tonight through midday tomorrow. Look for snow showers to be squally in nature with accumulations limited by hit or miss pockets of moisture and general trajectory.
Overnight lows were a lot like last night with Crested Butte coming in at 6 degrees and Gunnison just dipping below 0 to -2 degrees. Daytime highs will be in the mid to high 20’s for all elevations. Look for the heavier snow building overnight to keep temperatures warm with CB right around 10 degrees and Gunnison just a couple degrees lower.
This first round of moisture is moving through a little too far to the south for the brunt to hit our area but we will likely see 3-5” before the next wave builds on Wednesday. These systems later in the week are looking like the bigger better deal with heavy snow likely through Friday. The pattern is still shaping up and these waves are a little scrappier than we would like but it’s the best chance at real snow that the area has seen in a while. Think snow.
