Snow on the slow approach.

For 1/13/10: For Today: This next pacific system we’ve been watching is continuing to slowly work it’s way into the area. We saw a thin wave cycle through overnight that brought a slight increase in the cloud cover but the real system will build into the area through this afternoon with tonight and tomorrow offering the best chance at snow. Accumulations will be limited to a couple inches but this system promises to change the pattern with next week looking promising.

Overnight lows continued to show the strength of this inversion with Crested Butte dropping to 1 degree again while Gunnison hit -10 degrees. Daytime highs will be relatively warm again today with the high and low 20’s likely depending on elevation. Tonight’s lows will be moderated by heavy cloud cover and the western flow with the higher elevations in the single digits while Gunnison will hover on 0.

This next wave will clear the area through the night on Thursday with partly sunny conditions reestablishing on Friday. We will enjoy mostly sunny conditions through the weekend but a volley of pacific moisture is setting up for next week. Layer up and expect changes through the day today.
