Some clouds and light snow in the forecast.

For 1/6/10: For Today: The unorganized pattern in the west has us seesawing between northern and southern influences with no real solid regime forming. We have seen a little of everything through the last couple weeks but not a lot of anything. This latest system is no exception and scattered cloud cover giving way to snow showers throughout the day will be about all we will see with the brunt of this already weak system holding to the north.

Overnight lows were a lot milder than expected with Crested Butte seeing a warm shot from the south with a low of 20 degrees while Gunnison was stuck with the same but warmer version of the inversion at 7 degrees. Daytime highs will hover on the high 20’s for the ridges and north end of the valley while Gunnison will hold in the high teens or low 20’s. Look for tonight to offer colder lows in the single digits or below for all elevations.

Expect areas of snow showers today with the chance at an inch or two before skies clear into tomorrow but the main system will stay clear of the area. By tomorrow cold air from the north will settle in offering clear skies and colder temperatures. Be sure to pack the layers today and expect rapidly changing conditions and gusting winds.
