More clear skies but another round of snow brewing.
For 1/5/10: For Today: We will enjoy another mostly sunny day between these waves of pacific moisture with some cloud cover early building through the afternoon. The next northern system is setting up and will push into the area early tomorrow with snow in varied degrees expected into Thursday morning. This system will hold to the north and the other side of the divide so our accumulations will be limited to a couple inches in squally snow showers with snow decreasing the further south you are in the valley.
Overnight lows were mixed with Crested Butte reporting -1 degrees while Gunnison weighed in much colder at -11 degrees. Temperatures will rebound at the higher elevations to the high teens while the lower valleys hold around 10 degrees thanks to this inversion. Look for milder lows tonight as the clouds and snow start with all elevations pushing to or above 0 degrees.
We will once again be sitting outside of the sweet spot on this next system with already weak dynamics being further weekend by our distance from the meat of the storm. Look for colder temperatures settling in for Thursday as this draws a colder air mass down from the north with sunny skies retuning for Friday and the weekend.
