More cold clear conditions early.

For 1/4/10: For Today: This northwest flow has setup through the weekend with the brunt of the cloud cover and any associated moisture staying out of our area. We will see scattered cloud cover mixing with the sunny skies mostly relegated to the higher terrain and the divide. This will be the trend through the beginning of the week with a stronger northern system expected to push far enough south through Wednesday to offer a chance at some snow.

Overnight lows were cold last night under the clear skies with Crested Butte reporting -9 degrees and Gunnison dropping all the way to -15 degrees. Daytime highs will look a lot like yesterday with the ridges and higher elevations holding in the mid 20’s while the river valleys to the south struggle to break out of the teens. Look for another cold clear night tonight.

We will see very few changes in the weather through the next 48 hours while moisture brews in the west and a ridge forms over the southwest. The snow we are seeing for Wednesday will bring a colder air mass from the north which will help with snow production but accumulations will be limited. Remember layers and sunscreen again today.
