Blue Bird Morning.
For 1/3/10: For Today: We saw the southern most edge of the more northern oriented wave of pacific moisture yesterday which is why it blew in and out quickly with the squally snow showers dropping the majority of the snow. It has mostly cleared the area this morning and we will enjoy sunny skies for most of the valley with the exception being a couple scattered remnants offering snow showers over the divide and higher terrain.
Overnight lows dropped as the skies cleared with Crested Butte reporting -5 degrees while Gunnison made it lower to -8 degrees. Daytime highs will rebound under the sunny skies with the ridges and higher elevations hitting the mid 20’s but the lower valleys will hover in the high teens. Skies will stay clear overnight promising another colder overnight low in the negative single digits.
We are continuing to see waves of moisture stacking in the west but without an organized flow to draw then into the area we will be restricted to this same mix of sun and fast moving systems. Pack layers as you head out today and don’t forget your sunscreen.
