Some light cloud cover and a cold start.
For 12/27/09: For Today: Not much change in the western weather pattern for today as we continue to sit in between systems with just some scattered cloud cover expect to mix with otherwise mostly sunny skies. We are headed for changes through the middle of the week as a pacific system postures in the west but until then there won’t be much more than what we are seeing for changes in the weather.
Overnight lows were cold with this colder northern air settling in with Crested Butte reporting -12 degrees and Gunnison dropping to -14 degrees. Daytime highs will rebound but cloud cover will slow the warming with this cold air trapped in the lower valleys allowing only the teens for most elevations. Tonight will be just as cold without some significant changes in the pattern so expect more negative teens and fog around the rivers and Blue Mesa.
Look for clear skies through Monday as we gap these systems and high clouds building through Tuesday. This next western wave will build into Wednesday with snow expected in various degrees through the end of the week and the weekend. For today bundle up and be prepared for a slow warm up.
