a few inches of fresh snow.
For 12/23/09: For Today: Well needless to say, the components we were looking for to fall into place to fuel the best snow production went in different directions. We still managed a few inches by this morning to candy coat hat we saw through last weekend and the snow will continue in varied degrees through today. We can expect a couple more inches before the tail end has cleared the area but with the meat of this wave past us we will be seeing just snow showers as remnants clear through tomorrow.
Overnight lows were warmer at the lower elevations as this warm southern flow held to the south with Crested Butte reporting 8 degrees while Gunnison stayed at 11 degrees. Daytime highs will hold in the mid 20’s for all elevations. Tonight we will see more lows in the single digits but as skies clear it will get colder later in the week.
The next development in the west will be a colder northern switch as a cold front from the north slips south. Highs will drop to the teens though Christmas and overnight lows will drop below 0 as we head into the weekend. Get out today and enjoy the last of the milder temperatures and keep your fingers crossed for a little more snow before the tail end completely clears the area.
