A clear cold morning.

For 12/10/09: For Today: We have entered the gap between these waves of pacific moisture and the pattern will switch from the more northern dominated flow to one from the west through tomorrow. This will briefly relax the wind and allow for warmer air from the west but this will mostly only be noticeable at the higher elevations as a strong valley inversion sets up. The next round of moisture from the west will build through Friday afternoon with two separate waves promising snow through the weekend.

Overnight lows were cold with the clear skies with Crested Butte dropping to -14 degrees and Gunnison dropping to -15. Daytime highs will rise slowly under the clear skies with the higher elevations reaching the mid to high teens while the lower valleys hover right around 10. Look for another cold clear night with valleys a few degrees colder.

Pacific waves are stacking in the west and will roll in on a zonal flow through the weekend. These are less organized than this latest system and accumulation will be limited as a result but we can expect a few inches at a time freshening conditions up. Definitely bundle up today and respect the frostbite potential with dangerously low windchill values still threatening.
