Waking up to blue skies instead of snow.
For 11/29/09: For Today: Regional radar is showing little to no residual moisture from this wave that moved through quicker than we had expected and the National Weather Service has dropped the snow highlights from the forecast for today. Aside from the technical affirmation, a look out the window will show that the high pressure ridge has returned and we will see beautiful blue sky conditions with nothing but some light high altitude cloud cover.
Overnight lows were cold under the clear skies with Crested Butte reporting 13 degrees and Gunnison showing some lingering effects from the inversion coming in at 7 degrees. Daytime highs will climb quickly under the clear conditions with the high 30’s or low 40’s expected depending on elevation. Look for another cold overnight low with more clear skies tonight.
We are seeing more pacific moisture stacking in the west but also a large pocket of high pressure that has built over the southwest. We can expect clear and sunny conditions through the beginning of the week with a swing at some snow by Wednesday but models are already backing off that prediction. Some very isolated pockets of clouds are possible today so pack some layers just in case but definitely don’t forget sunscreen.
