Snow on the way.

For 11/28/09: For Today: This system is continuing to march across our area but moisture has been limited by weaker dynamics. We will see snow starting by noon on the higher terrain and spilling into the lower valleys through the day but accumulations for today should be limited to a couple inches at best. Tomorrow will offer a swing at better snow developing early and continuing through the early afternoon.

Overnight lows were moderated by the cloud cover on the front end of this system with Crested Butte hitting 11 degrees this morning and Gunnison weighing in only 2 degrees colder at 9 degrees. Daytime highs will climb slowly under the cloud cover but will still hit the mid to high 30’s depending on elevation. Heavier cloud cover and snow overnight will push lows even higher with the mid teens likely for all elevations.

Sunday will offer the best chance at accumulation from this system with areas of the San Juans expected to get 5-10”. We will likely weigh in just below that but there will be hit or miss cells that will offer areas of heavy snowfall. Skies are expected to clear again by Monday so this will move through quickly. Think snow.
