Another sunny day but snowy changes brewing.
For 11/27/09: For Today: We are continuing to enjoy these beautiful high pressure conditions in the west that will offer one more day of clear and sunny conditions. By tonight the ridge will have crossed over our area opening the door for a stronger pacific wave that will threaten snow through the weekend. Look for gusting winds increasing through the afternoon with light high altitude cloud cover building by dark.
Overnight lows have continued to hold right in check with the last week with Crested Butte reporting 8 degrees this morning while Gunnison weighed in at a colder 4 degrees as this inversion holds. Daytime highs will stay a couple degrees colder to the south in the lower valleys but the ridges and higher terrain will hit the high 30’s. Lows will climb by a couple degrees with the cloud cover expected by tomorrow and the gusting winds may clear the inversion by the morning and bring all elevations back in check.
The storm for this weekend is continuing to develop with different models pushing the moisture further to the south than others. As it stands expect snow in varied degrees through Sunday but just how much will depend on what happens in the next 24 hours. With some positive changes the outlook could swing from 3-6” to 6-12”.
