More clear skies.
For 11/20/09: For Today: We are waking up to another cold clear morning with the little cloud cover that we saw from the weakened northern system yesterday having blown clear of the area. We will see sunny skies and more mild daytime highs as this next round builds in the northwest but it’s going to be all southwestern flow for us. We will see a glancing blow offering increased cloud cover and gusting winds with some scattered snow possible mostly limited the higher terrain through the weekend.
Overnight lows were on par with what we have been seeing with Crested Butte reporting 9 degrees while Gunnison continued to slip lower under the weak valley inversion to 7 degrees. Daytime highs will hover in the high 30’s with the low 40’s possible. Look for another cold overnight low in the single digits or low teens if we see some of the is cloud cover overnight.
The southern most end of this northern low pressure trough will brush the divide offering increased cloud cover and snow showers through Saturday for the north end of the valley but partly to mostly sunny conditions will hold to the south. Expect high gusting winds as these systems cycle through the area with conditions changing quickly. You will want to pack layers as you head out to account for changing conditions.
