High pressure holding with another cold clear morning.

For 11/19/09: For Today: Nothing has changed in the western weather pattern with this northern low pressure trough still holding in the northwest while a large gap of high pressure holds over our area and the southwest. We can expect areas of high cloud cover as remnants of the weak wave we were expecting for today cycle through to the north but mostly sunny and mild conditions will dominate.

Overnight lows were cold again with the clear skies holding with Crested Butte reporting 8 degrees while Gunnison dropped lower under a valley inversion to 6 degrees. Daytime highs will be about what we have been seeing but maybe a degree or two cooler with high clouds keeping us in the mid to high 30’s valley wide. Look for another cold overnight low but additional cloud cover cloud help insulate a couple degrees.

This trough in the northwest is the only real weather maker in the forecast and models are continuing offer different solutions later in the weekend. It’s looking like Saturday will offer the best chance at snow with more mostly sunny conditions holding through Friday. Expect changes and stay tuned for updates.
