Sun earlier than expected.
For 11/15/09: For Today: The path that this storm was taking early kept the brunt of the moisture clear of our area with Denver and the foothills reporting the most impressive totals of any where in the state. All the resorts are reporting about the same as we saw. This morning we are waking up to some cold and clear conditions and while the National Weather service is keeping the winter storm warning in effect until tonight a look out the window is telling a different story. Some wrap around moisture from the east is possible but I think it’s a safe bet to say we have started to clear early.
Overnight lows were cold under the clear skies at the north end of the valley with Crested Butte reporting 14 degrees this morning while Gunnison was warmer at 20 degrees. Daytime highs will stay cool with the snow cover hovering right on the 30 degree mark. Look for tonight’s lows to drop to the low teens and single digits with the clear skies and snow covered valleys.
A gap of high pressure will dominate the west through the early part of the week with temperatures returning to seasonal norms and sunny skies expected through Wednesday. Expect highs in the 30’s with colder overnight lows in the teens. Pack some layers as you head out today just in case some snow returns but it looks like mostly sunny conditions will dominate.
