Snow on the ground but a slow start.

For 11/14/09: For Today: We are right on track with the predicted moisture in the west but the brunt is continuing to loop around to the south in Eastern Utah and run along the I-70 corridor. This is dealing a glancing blow to areas along the divide and the north end of the valley but so far we have been spared a direct shot. Look for snow to continue through today with this moisture expected to drop south across the area introducing some dynamic components.

Overnight lows were pretty cool given the cloud cover with Crested Butte reporting 25 degrees and Gunnison stayed a degree warmer at 26 degrees. Daytime highs will hover in the 30’s for all elevation in front of a colder pool dropping south for tomorrow. Look for lows to hold in the mid 20’s again as the same clouds hold and we see the chance for more snow overnight.

The warmer and colder components have yet to meet over our area and this will limit the heavy snowfall but look or this to happen through tonight and into tomorrow. It will be late for the heaviest potential but this moisture is far from past us so be prepared especially for sloppy driving conditions.
