A slow wind up.

For 11/13/09: For Today: The current pattern in the west has turned into a complicated soup with many ingredients. The warmer and slower moisture lifting into the area out of the southwest has slowly progressed across the area dropping little to no moisture on us but effectively stalling the colder northern low still dropping in our direction. This first southern round can only be described as mushy without the dynamics to squeeze snow out but this next round is still promising snow.

Overnight lows were the mildest we have seen in over a week with Crested Butte reporting 31 degrees and Gunnison just dipping below 30 to 29 this morning. We won’t see much movement in the temperatures with highs building to right around 37 degrees for CB and just breaking the 40’s for Gunnison. Look for more milder lows tonight hovering in the high 20’s for all elevations as this colder system sinks to the south.

This southern round of moisture looks impressive on the radar but is lacking the necessary components to spur the snowfall. This will change through the afternoon as the colder northern system sets up with gusting winds and a much more dynamic pattern offering the potential for heavy snow through Saturday night. By Sunday afternoon the brunt will be past us with skies expected to clear into Monday. Expect changes throughout today.
