Increasing high clouds.

For 11/5/09: For Today: Some high clouds have started to work their way into the area as the blown out fronts from the west litter the western weather pattern. We won’t see anything organized and the cloud cover won’t thicken beyond the mare’s tails but this is the best indicator of the changes that are currently brewing. Look for increased gusting winds by this afternoon but everything will stay pretty much the same.

Temperatures overnight have stayed pretty steady through the last week with Crested Butte reporting 19 degrees while Gunnison continue to dip a couple degrees cooler under a weak valley inversion to 16 degrees. The light cloud cover will slow the rebound for today by a bit but we will still see the same mid to high 50’s for all elevations. Tonight’s lows could warm by a degree or two depending on the cloud cover but more lows in the teens are likely.

Models continue to differ on the outcome for the weekend as the once organized wave in the pacific has turned into a couple weaker ones that stretch from Baja to Washington. With little confidence in these we have to stay with the same prediction of increasing clouds and light moisture but not enough for any big variables. Continue to get outside and take advantage of these next couple days just to be safe.
