The coldest we have been.
For 10/30/09: For Today: The northern flow of moisture is coming to an end with one final shot working it’s way along the divide to the east early this morning. We will see scattered snow showers through noon with sunshine starting to break through after that. Warmer air from the west will start to infiltrate this super cold northern front but it won’t be able to effectively mix any of this colder air clear of the valleys until Saturday.
Overnight lows were the lowest that we have seen all season with Crested Butte reporting 2 degrees while Gunnison held just couple degrees warmer at 6 degrees. Daytime highs will rebound slowly with the cloud cover holding through the morning with highs just climbing to 30 for the north end of the valley and a few degrees warmer in Gunnison. Tonight will bring another cold low with clearer skies but the milder western influence should bring temperatures up to the low teens for all elevations.
This early taste of winter has pretty much passed us and we will see significant changes through the weekend and into next week with temperatures returning to seasonal norms under sunny skies at least through next Wednesday. Stay bundled up as you head out this morning with today offering the day of transition but the change is underway.
