Snow on the ground early.
For 10/24/09: For Today: The first of a set of short waves of pacific moisture pushed through the area overnight offering the snow we are seeing this morning. These low clouds will clear through the morning as a drier slot dominates but these weak volleys of moisture will continue to push into and through northern Colorado with just enough finding it’s way into our area. There is no real significant snow in the forecast but scattered showers and colder temperatures will have it feeling like winter.
Overnight lows were coldest before the snow rolled in with Crested Butte reporting 27 degrees at 1am while Gunnison made it to 26 degrees. Daytime highs will pop to 46 degrees for Crested Butte with spotty sunshine and Gunnison will see more sun finding the mid to low 50’s. Tonight’s lows will be right around what we saw last night with another round of moisture offering some snow overnight.
These waves of moisture will be moving quickly out of the northwest with the most significant weather holding to the other side of the divide but we will see gusting winds and faster moving cells. Be prepared for these changes as you head out but take advantage of the sunny windows.
