A mix of conditions on the divide.
For 10/23/09: For Today: The most active conditions in the west continue to hold to the north but the southern most end has been holding just to the other side of the divide offering the chance of unsettled conditions to the north end of the valley. The south end of the valley has held just outside of the trajectory but the heavy snows on Monarch compared to the continued sunshine in Gunnison are a good example of just how close this line actually is.
Overnight lows were moderated by some of this cloud cover with Crested Butte reporting 30 degrees this morning while Gunnison with the clearer conditions dropped to 25 degrees. We will see roughly the same effect with the daytime highs today with Crested Butte only expected to hit 46 degrees while the south end of the valley under sunnier skies reaches 53 degrees. Overnight lows tonight will be in the 20’s valley wide with Gunnison possibly slipping into the teens.
There is very little organized moisture pushing in our direction and models continue to waffle on just much and how far south the effects will reach. We can expect a mix of sun and clouds with scattered snow showers possible over the higher terrain so you will want to be prepared as you head out.
