Mostly sunny but cold.
For 10/22/09: For Today: Skies cleared through the evening yesterday opening us up to this clearer high pressure from the west. As part of this shift we are seeing some wrap around clouds in the form of high cloud cover early. This will continue through the day and it’s looking like the waves of northern moisture will cut through northern Colorado offering the potential for the glancing blow and isolated moisture along the divide overnight. For the most part skies will remain mostly sunny but this dirty flow out of the northwest will keep some clouds in the sky.
Clear skies overnight turned into the super cold lows we were expecting with Crested Butte reporting 21 degrees this morning while Gunnison was only a degree warmer at 22 degrees. Daytime highs will rebound quickly under the clear and sunny skies but temperatures will remain cool under the northern influence with Crested Butte hitting just 45 degrees while Gunnison climbs higher to 51 degrees. Overnight lows tonight will be moderated by the cloud cover associated with this weak northern system holding right around 30 degrees.
A series of glancing blows from the north will dictate the western weather pattern for this week. Skies will remain mostly sunny but while the northern influence holds, we will see partly cloudy conditions and cooler temperatures.
