A rainy mix to start the week.

For 10/19/09: For Today: The weather we were expecting for this week has choked up on us as the high pressure ridge pushed clear of the area a little earlier than expected last night. This opened the door for this quick shot of southern moisture that lifted into the area early this morning. The moisture is scattered but regional radar is showing stronger pockets in the Telluride area that will find us through the morning.

Overnight lows were moderated by the cloud cover with the low hit in Crested Butte at 2am of 31 degrees and Gunnison dropped to 30 degrees around the same time before warming back to the mid 30’s. Daytime highs will be in the high 40’s and low 50’s depending on elevation. Overnight lows will hover right on the 30 degree mark for all elevations as this next system builds into the area.

Today will offer a mix of rain and sun as these spotty waves cycle through the area. Tonight will offer the more drastic transition to the colder northern wave which will offer a rain snow mix through Wednesday. By Thursday sunny skies return so get those inside projects done. It’s a fairly typical week of mixed fall conditions in the forecast and you will want to plan accordingly to take advantage of the nicer conditions developing later in the week.
