A wet finale.

For 10/14/09: For Today: We are once again in a good news bad news scenario for the forecast with the moisture we were expecting to linger through Thursday consolidating and slipping south promising a very active day today. The good news is that it will mean clear skies by Thursday rather than dragging on another day before clearing. So for today look for high winds at the higher elevations with snow heavy at times falling valley wide with only the lowest valleys getting a precipitation mix.

Overnight lows were fairly mild compared to last week with Crested Butte reporting 33 degrees and Gunnison 32 degrees. Daytime highs will see a slow rebound topping out in the mid to low 40’s to the north and not too much higher for the south. Look for snow coverage and clearing skies tonight to offer colder overnight lows dropping to the 20’s.

Today will be the grand finale and the last gasp of this northern dominated cell and will definitely offer conditions you will want to be prepared for especially on the higher ridges. By Thursday we will see a zonal pattern develop in the flow that will offer clear and sunny conditions all the way into next week with above normal temperatures.
