A snowy start.

For 10/13/09: For Today: The southern wave we were watching has set up earlier than expected thanks to the high winds yesterday. It is fueling a rain snow mix early but will also move clear of the area faster than initially forecast. Either way we can expect a mix of conditions holding through most of the day with some sunnier conditions possible by the afternoon.

Overnight lows were insulated by the cloud cover with Crested Butte reporting 32 degrees this morning while Gunnison held in check at 31 degrees. Daytime highs will remain fairly mild under the southern flow but cloud cover will keep us to the high 40’s or low 50’s short of better clearing later in the day. Look for colder conditions tonight as skies clear and a cold front builds to the north.

A switch in the dominant flow of the western weather pattern will draw in a more northern oriented flow by tomorrow. This will mean colder temperatures but the brunt will stay to our north promising a mix of sun and clouds with spotty snow showers. Get the inside projects done through the middle of the week because we have a nice weekend on the way.
