A Blue Bird Weekend On Tap.

For 9/26/09: Hello High pressure. The cold system from the north that has been dominating the weather through the last week has cleared the area opening the door for warm high pressure and we have some beautiful conditions on tap for the weekend. Look for temperatures to rise to and above seasonal norms with just some clouds building on the higher terrain to pollute what will otherwise be a blue bird couple days.

Overnight lows were cold with the clear skies with 26 degrees being reported valley wide this morning. We will rebound quickly under the sunny skies with Crested Butte topping out at 64 degrees while Gunnison flirts with 70. Tonight’s low should climb by a couple degrees back towards 30 degrees but more clear skies will mean more below freezing lows.

This pocket of high pressure will offer nothing but sunny skies but also expect some gusting terrain driven winds to build with the heat of the day. This looks to be the perfect weekend to get a few of those leftover adventures or outdoor projects on the summer to-do list out of the way. Tackle the big ones with confidence but stay prepared for cold overnight lows. Definitely enjoy this weather because we are headed for changes again next week.
