Clear and cold but warmer conditions on the way.

For 9/24/09: We are seeing the last gasps of this northern moisture that keeps wrapping around from the other side of the divide with more showers building through the afternoon today. Cloud cover will be slower to develop as the moisture source pinches off but warmer temperatures will ultimately make up for the drier conditions offering the same result.

Overnight lows were colder last night with Crested Butte dropping to 23 degrees while Gunnison was flirting with the teens at 20 degrees. Daytime highs will be a few degrees warmer at all elevations thanks to skies staying sunnier longer with the north end of the valley hovering at or below 60 while Gunnison reaches the low 60’s. Overnight lows will warm by a couple degrees tonight as the pattern shifts but will still likely hold in the 20’s valley wide.

Friday will be our day of transition as this cold front recycling into the area will finally push off to the east while a drier and significantly warmer pattern sets up in the west. Moisture will be limited and there is almost no potential for any rain but stay prepared especially if you are trying for the big adventure. Today will be a good day to get those inside projects buttoned up in preparation for a few good outside days.
