Sunny and cold.
For 9/19/09: Our weather pattern in the west just keeps getting more interesting through the long term forecast but conditions are still looking fairly stable for our area. Look for enough moisture to continue to fuel these convective based thundershowers that will build over the higher terrain in the early afternoon and fill into the valleys later in the day. These should be faster moving and more spread out than what we have been seeing but expect some strong cells and stay prepared.
Overnight lows dropped under the clearer conditions with Crested Butte reporting 30 degrees and 33 degrees for Gunnison. Daytime highs will hold in the mid to low 60’s for CB and flirt with the 70’s for Gunnison but this will all depend on how early the weather develops. Look for another cold overnight low just like last night.
The cold front that has been lurking to our north is starting to show signs of dipping into the area for the beginning of the week with a greater influence than initially expected. We will see temperature drops in the neighborhood of 20 degrees with a swing at some snow possible. Get an early start on your adventures this weekend and pack plenty of layers but definitely take advantage of the nicer conditions.
