Cloudy with recycled moisture.

For 9/10/09: We are sitting outside the dominant flow of the western weather pattern with low pressure to the north and the south converging on our area and trapping the moisture. The result has been wrap around moisture from the east and the southwest getting trapped with precipitable water levels from GJ continuing to hover at or just below an inch. This is plenty of fuel for convective thundershowers and cloud cover and we won’t see much change until a scouring front pushes through.

The cloud cover that built through the evening kept overnight lows warm valley wide with Crested Butte reporting 41 degrees this morning and Gunnison holding a degree higher at 42 degrees. Daytime highs will be mild but moderated by the continued cloud cover topping out in the high 60’s or low 70’s depending on elevation. Overnight lows should be colder with clearer skies but little movement in the pattern could mean more low clouds.

As we continue to sit on the sidelines of the weather pattern it will mean more cloud cover and isolated convective thundershowers mostly lifting in from the southwest and the San Juans. This makes the weather pretty hard to call so check back for updates and be prepared for all conditions as you head out.
