Another cold clear morning.

For 9/9/09: A cold front in northern Colorado stalled yesterday introducing a line of thundershowers and unsettled weather that worked off of the remaining precipitable water levels holding around the divide. We have seen a lot of this move off to the east with just the standard remnants expected to fuel thundershowers along the higher terrain through the heat of the day. Conditions will remain fairly active so stay prepared but thunder cells should hold off until later in the day.

A clear night gave way to cold overnight lows with Crested Butte reporting 35 degrees and Gunnison dropped to 36 degrees. We will rebound quickly under these clear skies with Crested Butte reaching the high 60’s or low 70’s while the south end of the valley is firmly entrenched in the 70’s. Look for another cold clear night dropping to the mid to low 30’s depending on elevations.

We are seeing a dirty western flow dominate our area with the more active conditions to our north and south leaving us in the middle with the unorganized leftovers. As a result we can expect to see a mixed bag of conditions that will be worth being prepared for if you are headed out. Definitely pack layers and be prepared.
