Clear and chilly early.

For 9/8/09: We have seen little change in the pattern through the last 24 hours with the remnants of this latest round continuing to clear the area but expected to fuel another round of convective activity through the afternoon. Look for mostly sunny skies to dominate for most of the day with thunderheads building on the higher terrain before spilling into the lower valleys.

Another clear night meant more cold temperatures with Crested Butte reporting 37 degrees this morning while Gunnison held a degree warmer at 38 degrees. Daytime highs should be in the low to mid 70’s for all elevations today with the clear and sunny conditions early. Skies will clear after dark allowing for another cold clear night with lows in the 30’s expected again.

More active weather conditions are continuing to work their way through to our north and south but a fairly docile forecast holds for our area with drier conditions and sunny skies on tap for the end of the week. Look for the classic afternoon thundershowers to continue to threaten this afternoon and tomorrow but taper off by Thursday. Pack layers and stay prepared but get outside.
