Mostly cloudy early.

For 9/6/09: This southern moisture is continuing to march across the area and the brunt of the organized moisture yesterday missed us to the west but remnants will fuel thundershowers again today. Early cloud cover will keep temperatures cooler which may limit the convective potential through the heat of the day but regional radar is already showing some storms popping up so be prepared.

Overnight lows were moderated by the cloud cover and scattered storms with Crested Butte reporting 44 degrees and Gunnison staying a little warmer at 47 degrees. Daytime highs will stay cooler with this cloud cover early with the 60’s likely for all elevations. Skies will be a little clearer overnight with lows dropping back o the high 30’s and low 40’s depending on elevation.

As the tail end of this southern wave clears the area we will see plenty of fuel for the scattered thundershowers. Definitely plan your adventures with this in mind and carry layers especially if you are headed to the higher terrain.
