Smoke from western fires.
For 9/1/09: Sorry for the delay but look for a fresh long term weather report on CBTV today. We are waking up to more smoky haze from the fires out of the west with the same continued mix of components working in the weather pattern. The high pressure ridge that has been keeping us in the drier conditions has kept the cold front and northern moisture well to our north but also allowed southern moisture to lift into southern Colorado. Regional radar is showing a pocket of moisture over Telluride this morning that could offer some showers for us through the middle of the day.
Overnight lows were cooler than yesterday dropping to 38 degrees valley wide. Daytime highs today will hold in the low to mid 70’s with the warmer southern flow but cloud cover will keep it feeling cooler. Skies are slated to clear again overnight but if any of this cloud cover lingers look for warmer temperatures.
It’s looking like there will be enough moisture slipping under the high pressure ridge to keep the convective thundershowers going through the end of the week. Beyond that models are differing on the outcome but most are predicting a surge of subtropical moisture from the south just in time to grab the remnants of this hurricane. Stay tuned for updates but get some outside time in just in case.
