Some scattered cloud cover but mostly sunny.

For 8/29/09: The wave of pacific moisture we are seeing working it’s way across the west is responsible for the light cloud cover this morning. We can expect an increase in moisture for today that will mean partly cloudy conditions early and isolated thundershowers building with the heat of the day. A dry slot seems to have lined up with us so the better part will stay to the north but expect gusting winds and hit or miss cells through the afternoon.

Overnight lows have continued a slow climb and we saw 37 degrees in Crested Butte and 38 degrees in Gunnison. Daytime highs will hold in the high 70’s valley wide with the lower valleys flirting with the 80 degree mark but light cloud cover will probably keep it a little cooler than that. Overnight lows may be even warmer around the 40’s tonight if this cloud cover holds on.

Today is threatening a mixed bag of conditions with the glancing blow from a more organized northern wave. Expect the greatest variables on the divide and higher terrain and be sure to pack layers if that is where your adventures are taking you.
