Another sunny morning but changes are looming.

For 8/28/09: High pressure is continuing to hold but moisture from the west will start to push into our area fueling convective thundershowers through the afternoons. Different models are currently offering different outcomes through the weekend but count on enough moisture for fast moving thunder cells and get an early start on your adventures.

Overnight lows were hovering in the mid 30’s as expected with Crested Butte reporting 35 degrees and Gunnison 37 degrees. Look for another day a lot like yesterday with temperatures rebounding quickly to the high 70’s and low 80’s depending on altitude. Tonight will offer more lows in the 30’s as skies clear into the evening.

Look for sunny skies early to see cloud cover building on the higher terrain through the heat of the day. Today will likely offer more moisture actually hitting the ground but probably not enough to warrant changing any plans over. Just be prepared, especially if you are headed to the higher terrain, and try to get an early start.
