Blue skies are back with western high pressure.

For 8/26/09: High pressure is building in from the west and drier conditions will dominate through the end of the week and into the weekend but some isolated remnants will fuel widely spread convective activity. Look for skies to remain mostly sunny all day but areas of cloud cover will build on the higher terrain through the heat of the day with some dipping to the lower valleys. These will be fast moving and hit or miss but worth being prepared for.

Overnight lows dropped as the pattern shifted and skies cleared with Crested Butte reporting 33 degrees and Gunnison 35 degrees. Daytime highs will hedge back into the high 60’s and 70’s depending on elevation with temperatures expected to warm a degree or two everyday into the weekend. Look for more cold clear nights hovering right on the freezing mark valley wide.

Mostly sunny conditions will be our dominant weather feature through the rest of the week but you will want to be prepared for scattered cells building over the divide and higher terrain. Moisture wrapping around from the east will make these hard to predict so pack layers and just be prepared.
