Monsoonal Flow.
For 8/24/09: This plume of subtropical moisture that brought us the wetter conditions through Sunday has continued to lift into the area with a steady stream of moisture lifting through Telluride and up into Grand Junction. So far the brunt is staying just to our west and looping around to our north but expect the potential for some heavy rain building from the south with thunder cells over the higher terrain through the afternoon and evening.
Overnight lows stayed mild again with the cloud cover with Crested Butte reporting 42 degrees this morning and Gunnison bottoming out at 44 degrees. Daytime highs will be moderated by the cloud cover again today topping out in the high 60’s or low 70’s depending on the elevation. Overnight lows will again be held in check by the cloud cover and the possibility of thundershowers continuing after dark.
Today will present a mix of sun and clouds with more of the clouds likely dominating the mix as the day progresses. Expect stronger and slower moving systems today that could produce wetting rains. Conditions will dry later in the week so get the inside projects done today.
