Blue bird clear high pressure.
For 8/8/09: Looks like it’s going to be an incredible day to hike the peak or take advantage of any number of the other great events going on in town today. We will see cool temperatures and nothing but blue bird clear skies for today continuing into tomorrow and likely holding on through the beginning of the week. We may see some gusting winds blowing up into the afternoons but that’s about it for variables on the beautiful conditions.
Clear skies overnight brought us some colder temperatures valley wide with Crested Butte dropping to 37 degrees while Gunnison was a couple degrees warmer at 40 degrees. Daytime highs will hold in the low 70’s for the north end of the valley while Gunnison climbs to the high 70’s and flirts with the 80’s. Look for another cold clear night tonight with lows potentially breaking into the 30’s at all elevations.
We are continuing to see this cold front holding to the north while dry high pressure lingers to the south. We won’t see much movement out of either system keeping us in the cooler clear conditions into the beginning of next week. Plan the big adventure or outdoor project with confidence but, as usual, stay prepared.
