Another sunny morning.
For 8/4/09: More shifting conditions in the west have us in an unorganized pattern with a slow trickle of moisture slipping through the high pressure to the southwest. The result is more of these above normal temperatures activating the moisture offering a fairly predictable convective cycle with isolated thundershowers building through the heat of the day. Skies clear by the early evening opening us up to the cold clear nights.
Overnight lows were cold last night dropping to 36 degrees in Crested Butte while Gunnison held a little warmer but still dropped to 40 degrees. Daytime highs will rebound quickly with Crested Butte expected to top out in the high 70’s and Gunnison will climb to the low to mid 80’s. These warmer than usual temperatures will continue through the middle of the week but look for cooler temperatures for the weekend. Expect another colder clear night.
The current cycle of convective activity remains active but it’s short on moisture and long on the warm temperature. The result has been threatening looking clouds but little moisture actually hitting the ground. Stay prepared as you head out but without a significant increase in the moisture, storms should be pretty dry.
