More clear skies as high pressure holds.
For 7/22/09: High pressure is continuing to hold in the southwest while our dominant flow drops in from the northwest. The combination has kept us in mostly sunny conditions with the moisture continuing to hold to the south but we are starting to see some changes in the pattern that will mean a change later in the week.
Overnight lows dropped under the clearer skies hitting 36 degrees in Crested butte and holding at 44 degrees in Gunnison. Daytime highs will remain on the cooler side under the northwestern flow with Crested Butte topping out in the low 70’s while Gunnison will be a few degrees warmer. More clear skies for tonight will mean another cold overnight low.
Models are showing different outcomes to the changes we’ll see through the end of the week but components coming together from the north and south will make for a more complicated forecast. At least for the next couple days, the sunny skies will hold so be sure to get outside and take advantage but remain prepared for a possible thundershower over the higher terrain.
