Residual cloud cover from yesterday.
For 7/20/09: The combination of increased moisture and continued super warm temperatures lead to widespread thundershowers to our west yesterday. These cycled through our area overnight offering heavy cloud cover and mild temperatures with more left to our west early. Regional radar is showing a strong pocket of thundershowers moving out of Grand Junction along the divide that could give us some activity through the morning especially on the divide and higher terrain.
This cloud cover kept overnight lows warm with Crested Butte reporting 44 degrees while Gunnison held up at 48 degrees. Daytime highs will hit the mid 70’s for CB and the north end of the valley while Gunnison hovers right around 80 degrees. Overnight lows should stay in the 40’s valley wide with more cloud cover building later in the day.
All in all we are continuing to see the drier pattern in the west but this quick shot of moisture from Sunday night is leaving some lasting remnants. Look for skies to clear through the middle of the day but thundershowers will likely threaten again by the evening. Drier conditions returning from the north will mean more sun and less fuel for convective activity for the rest of the week.
