Blue bird high pressure.

For 7/17/09: While this high pressure is continuing to hold strong we will see nothing but blue skies dominating the western weather pattern through today and tomorrow. Look for some scattered cloud cover building over the higher terrain but any clouds will be so scattered that they are hardly worth mentioning.

Clear skies overnight allowed lows to drop to 37 degrees in Crested Butte while Gunnison stayed above the 40 degree mark at 42 degrees. Daytime highs will continue to be above normal with Crested Butte rubbing right up against the 80’s while Gunnison will likely climb to 85+ degrees. Expect another cool night as the clear skies continue.

The high pressure pocket that has set up in the west will offer clear skies and above normal temperatures through today and tomorrow with only slight changes into Sunday. The lower valleys to our east and west are expecting highs topping out at 100+ degrees. With these clear conditions you can plan a big project or adventure with confidence but be sure to bring plenty of water and respect the dangers associated with the hot temperatures.
