Nothing but sunny high pressure.

For 7/16/09: The last of the residual moisture from the south has now cleared the area opening the door for the high pressure from the southwest. We will see some scattered cloud cover building with the heat of the day but precipitable water levels have dropped below .20” and this means almost no chance of fuel for convective activity. Look for the warmest temperatures we have seen all summer holding into the weekend with nothing but blue skies on tap.

Overnight lows dropped under the clear skies with Crested butte reaching 37 degrees this morning while Gunnison held to 42 degrees. Daytime highs will climb under the clear skies with even the higher elevations threatening to break the 80 degree mark. Look for another cold clear night.

The high pressure pocket that has set up in the west will keep us in dry conditions into the weekend with only a slight increase in available moisture Sunday afternoon. Other than this it will be hot and sunny with only a few isolated clouds offering any relief through the afternoons. Stay prepared as you head out but definitely take advantage of the beautiful conditions.
