Some cloud cover early.
For 7/15/09: As the high pressure ridge forms over the southwest we are seeing a little house cleaning in the form of left over moisture being cycled clear of the area. Regional radar is showing a line of thundershowers stretching from western Utah through to our area that will move along the divide and offer fuel for some widely scattered thundershowers and heavier cloud cover. These shouldn’t produce much rain but they will be worth being prepared for if you are headed out.
Overnight lows were moderated a bit by the cloud cover with Crested Butte only dropping to 40 degrees and Gunnison holding a couple degrees higher at 44 degrees. We will see daytime highs again in the 70’s for the higher elevations and the 80’s for Gunnison but the cloud cover we are seeing early could keep temperatures a bit cooler. Look for more clear skies overnight allowing for colder conditions.
As this final gasp of the moisture to our west cycles clear of the area it will offer a mixed bag of conditions for the day. Be prepared as you head out for faster moving hit or miss cells. By tomorrow we enter a very different high pressure pattern that will have us in sunny warm conditions into next week.
