High pressure setting up with an incredible week on tap.
For 7/13/09: The tail end of this latest round of moisture from the south will clear the area over the course of the day and be replaced by a much drier zonal pattern. A high pressure ridge building into the area will mean warm dry conditions through the end of the week and likely through the weekend as well.
Overnight lows were mild with residual cloud cover from yesterday’s storms with Crested Butte reporting 40 degrees this morning and Gunnison reporting 44 degrees. Highs today will be a little cooler than they have been thanks to a weak cold front in the north with the north end of the valley topping out in the low 70’s while Gunnison holds just below the 80’s. Overnight lows will be cooler tonight with clear skies returning to the area with the higher elevations dropping into the 30’s.
Today will offer the classic afternoon thundershowers building over the higher terrain but cooler temperatures all over the west will limit them to a quick shot through the late afternoon with skies clearing into the evening. Starting tomorrow we will see much drier conditions with mostly sunny skies expected through the end of the week with little to no available moisture for convective activity.
