Thundershowers overnight and lingering moisture.

For 7/12/09: The brunt of the latest round of moisture lifting into our area has cleared but regional radar is showing storms left over in the west pushing along our side of the divide in our direction. These will likely be restricted to the higher terrain but it looks like we could have some active conditions on tap earlier today.

Overnight lows were the mildest we have seen in a while with the lingering storms keeping Crested Butte at 46 degrees and Gunnison just dropped below the 50 degree mark to 49 degrees. Daytime highs will be moderated by earlier cloud cover but should hit the high 70’s for the higher elevations with Gunnison and the lower valleys flirting with the 80’s. Look for more milder overnight lows with another round of nocturnal thundershowers possible.

We will see changes through the beginning of the week pushing this plume of moisture clear of the area. Unfortunately today will offer another round of convective storms from both the lingering moisture and more organized remnants from the west threatening earlier in the day. Plan your activities with escapability in mind or be prepared to get wet.
