Blue Bird Conditions.

For 7/8/09: We're seeing one more day of this clear high pressure with nothing but sunny skies expected. Look for gusting winds and some high clouds through the afternoon but  there is little to no available moisture to form any convective activity.

Overnight lows are continuing to drop under the increasing clear and dry conditions with Crested Butte reporting 35 degrees this morning while Gunnison continued to hold on the 40 degree mark. Daytime highs will hit the 70’s for the higher elevations and the 80’s for Gunnison and the lower valleys. Tonight will bring more clear conditions but a switch in the flow may introduce high cloud cover by the morning.

A cold front to the north will offer a glancing blow to northern Colorado but the associated moisture will remain well to the north. This will combine forces with high pressure in the panhandle pushing subtropical moisture north. This promises to be enough to fuel more convective showers and gusting winds for Thursday and beyond but won’t progress much beyond that. With changes coming definitely get outside and enjoy today’s pure blue skies.
